BEAUMONT — A Beaumont man has been found guilty by a Jefferson County jury in the 2017 shooting death of another Beaumont man.

Seth Joachim Haynes, 21, was found guilty for the January 2017 death of Alex Straway, 23, whose burned body was found inside his car in the north end of Beaumont.

Jurors will return to 252nd District Court Monday afternoon to begin the punishment phase of Haynes' trial.

Haynes admitted to police that he shot and killed Straway before driving Straway's car to the 3300 block of McHale Street and setting it on fire with his body inside it, according to file stories.
