Police: 15-year-old boy shot multiple times after altercation at Pine Club Apartments

He was later taken to the hospital to have surgery.

BEAUMONT, Texas —

Detectives are investigating a shooting at an apartment complex that sent a 15-year-old boy to the hospital.

The Beaumont Police Department responded to a call from the victim of a shooting around 2:15 a.m. Saturday.

The boy was at an apartment complex in the 5000 block of Pine Street. 

When officers arrived, they found the boy in an apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

An officer provided medical aid to the boy with a tourniquet until EMS arrived. EMS said the officer played an important role in saving the victim’s life.

He was later taken to the hospital to have surgery. The boy is expected to live. 

Before contacting the police, the boy had been involved in an altercation near the back of the apartments, according to a news release. Police said this led to the shooting. 

What really happened is unclear due to conflicting statements and uncooperative people, according to police.

Saturday, May 16, 2020 around 2:15 am, officers responded to an apartment in the 5000 block of Pine Street in reference to a victim of a shooting. 

 Upon the arrival, officers located a 15 year old juvenile victim in an apartment suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

 Officers quickly provided medical aid to the victim until EMS arrived.  Preliminary investigation revealed that just prior to contacting the police, the victim was involved in an altercation near the rear of the complex which led to the shooting.  Due to conflicting statements and uncooperative subjects, it is still unclear what transpired.  

The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS. He had to have surgery and is expected to recover.

The officer is to be commended for his quick and proper application of his tourniquet to the victim which, according to EMS personnel, possibly saved the 15 year old victim’s life.
