BEAUMONT, Texas — The Jefferson County Courthouse is now clear after a bomb threat caused an evacuation around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
County employees were ordered out of the building and K9 officers from Beaumont and Port Arthur were called in to search the building. Jurors were sent home for the day and officials put out word that anyone who is not a courthouse employee should not attempt to enter the building.
Courthouse offices were closed for the day so the K9s could do a full sweep of the facility.
The federal courthouse is being checked as well as a precaution.
12News has a crew at the courthouse and will have more information as it is released by official sources.
