'I just can't wait to give it to her': Orange family raising money to give these lifelong best friends Disney World trip

A pair of best friends in Orange hope they get to see a dream come true with help from the public.

ORANGE, Texas — A pair of best friends in Orange are hoping that they get to see a dream come true.

Cody Dunaway, 20, and Jorisha Lewis, 19, have disabilities and for the most part, both are wheelchair-bound.

In May, Dunaway and Lewis graduated from West Orange-Stark High School.

Since they were kids they've been nearly inseparable, hanging out together every chance they get.

"That's my son's bodyguard for sure. If something is wrong and she's around, I'm sure to know because she will let me know," Tabitha Yust, Dunaway's mother, said.

But there's one activity they haven't gotten to do as friends, which is what Dunaway's family is looking to change.

Dunaway has Angelman syndrome, a genetic disorder that causes evelopmental disabilities and nerve-related symptoms. With help from the Make-a-Wish foundation, he took a trip to Disney World a few years ago.

Lewis saw the fun her best friend had while in Florida and wanted to go herself, Yust said.

"She's got to go. She had her little graduation party and she wants to save every little dime she got just to make sure she gets to Disney," Yust said.

"We're trying to come up with the funds to bring her with our son because we're paying for our son's graduation at Disney. So, we want to bring her with us," Yust said.

However, doctors told her family that she was too old for the Make-a-Wish program.

FUNDRAISER Here's where you can donate to 'Let's get her to Disney'

This is my sons best friend. They've been going to school side by side Ever since three years old. We took our son to Disney few yrs back when talking...

Last month, Dunaway's parents created a fundraiser to help make Lewis' dream come true.

The family is trying to get $3,000 in donations to help cover hotel, travel and food costs.

They're hoping to surprise Lewis when they reach the goal.

"I want to see her open it up and see how much excitement she has. You can tell when she gets excited, she goes to shaking. I just can't wait to do it, I just can't wait to give it to her," Dunaway's parents said.

Dunaway's parents are hoping to keep this a secret, with Lewis' mother already knowing the plan.

They've raised nearly $2,000, and ask for prayers along with getting the word out if anyone is unable to donate.

Anyone can also put money into an account set up at the Sabine Credit Union:
