An animated film about Grendel, a drama about a transgender woman and a documentary about a girl finding her birth parents in China are among the Student Academy Awards gold medal winners. Film's biggest night is getting closer and closer!

The nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards were announced Monday morning in Los Angeles by John Cho and Issa Rae. They bring plenty of star power to the February 9 ceremony — a good thing, since the show will for the second straight year go without a host.

Todd Phillips' "Joker" leads the pack with 11 nominations, including Best Picture. "The Irishman," "1917" and "Once Upon a Time...In Hollywood" weren't far behind with ten nominations each.

The Academy selected an all-male directing nominee list for the 87th time, according to the Associated Press. Greta Gerwig, who directed Best Picture nominee "Little Women," was passed over for a directing nod. "Congratulations to those men," Rae said after presenting the nominees.

There were some other surprising snubs as well. "Frozen 2," which is currently the highest grossing animated film ever, did not receive a nod for Animated Feature Film. Jennifer Lopez, who was highly expected to earn a supporting actress nod for her role in "Hustlers," was denied. Beyonce also missed out on her first Oscar nomination for her original song for "Lion King."

Last year's ceremony went without a host after Kevin Hart stepped down amid fallout from homophobic tweets that resurfaced.
