Beaumont man killed in Wednesday morning wreck along SH124 behind Goodyear plant

The victim pulled out from a driveway at the Goodyear plant onto SH124 and was struck on the driver side by an SUV.

A spokesperson for the Department of Public Safety Wednesday afternoon identified the victim of a fatal collision that happened Wednesday morning along State Highway 124 behind the Goodyear plant west of Beaumont. The victim is identified as Rhett Reamy, 22, of Beaumont.

The spokesperson said Reamy pulled out of a driveway at the Goodyear plant onto SH 124 and was struck on the driver side by an SUV.

From the Texas Department of Public Safety...

At approximately 10:15a.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) responded to a multiple vehicle crash on SH 124, approximately one (1) mile South of Smith Road, in Jefferson County.

Preliminary reports indicate that a 2017 Chevrolet SUV was traveling Southwest on SH 124. A 2005 Ford Fusion pulled out from the driveway of the Goodyear plant into the path of the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet struck the Ford Fusion in the driver-side of the vehicle.

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 52-year-old Beaumont man, was transported to a local hospital by private vehicle.

The driver of the Ford, a 22-year-old male from Beaumont, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital in serious condition. However, he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased by doctors at the hospital. The victim’s name will not be released until the next of kin has been notified.

Again, all information is preliminary as Troopers continue to investigate this fatal crash.
