Teams let Kirbyville boy with autism score two touchdowns

KIRBYVILLE - A wonderful gesture in Kirbyville this weekend when two flag football teams, the host Wildcats and the visiting Newton Eagles, allowed a boy with autism to score two touchdowns during the game.

Patrick Going, the son of Richard and Amy Going, got to see their son score before the game and at halftime. The idea was to allow Patrick to carry the ball into the endzone once, but the kids from Newton had so much fun cheering him on the first time, rumor has it they asked the coaches if they could let Patrick score again at halftime.

Patrick has developmental delay, but on Saturday morning, he was absolutely on point, giving high fives and tell 12 News that he was definitely the MVP.

A shoutout to the coaching staffs in Newton and Kirbyville for helping teach life to these athletes and not just wins and losses over a game.
