Army truck hangs off guardrail on overpass over Highway 365, five-car pileup on Highway 69 Monday morning

NEDERLAND, Texas — An army truck went over a guardrail on the Highway 69 overpass over Highway 365 Monday morning.

Traffic slowed down along the feeder roads beside Highway 69. 

Several other accidents were reported on Highway 69 nearby midday on Monday. 

Texas DPS State Troopers responded to a five-car accident near Spurlock Road on Highway 69 near Nederland around 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 28, Sgt. Stephanie Davis said in a news release. 

A 2014 Dodge van did not stop and rear-ended four other cars slowed due to stopped traffic on Highway 69 northbound, causing a pileup with a 2013 Cadillac, a 2019 Toyota SUV, a 2020 Honda sedan and a 2018 Chervolet pickup. 

The driver of the Dodge van, Timothy Labbit, 27, of Groves was taken to St. Elizabeth hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the Toyota, Tara Butler, 61, of Beaumont, was taken to Baptist Hospital with unknown injuries.

No other injuries were reported, Davis said. 

Highway 69 northbound near Spurlock Road was closed for more than two hours after the accident.
