Tropical Storm Cindy delays and closures

SOUTHEAST TEXAS - The following is information regarding local closures and /or delays due to Tropical Storm Cindy.

We will post confirmed information as we receive it and can confirm it.

BEAUMONT COMMUNITY PLAYERS: KIDmunity Thursday Night Performance Moved to 7 p.m. Saturday. Rehearsals for Aristocats, Jungle Book CANCELED for Thursday, will resume Friday at 9:30 a.m.

BIG THICKET NATIONAL PRESERVE SUSPENDS CAMPING PERMITS: The preserve will suspend the issuing of all back-country camping permits and other special use permits in the preserve until further notice.

BOB HOPE ELEMENTARY & HIGH SCHOOL: June 21 - Bob Hope School will release all MS and Elementary Summer School students at noon today. June 22 – School is closed. School will resume on Monday.

BRIDGE CITY ISD: The District will be closed today at noon, Wednesday, June 21, due to impending inclement weather. Student summer classes will also be canceled for Thursday, June 22. A decision on Thursday's schedule for Employees will be made late Wednesday/early Thursday. The safety of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to us. 

CAPLAND SPEECH THERAPY CENTER: Port Arthur location closed Thursday

CALCASIEU PARISH SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Sheriff’s administrative office, tax office and departments with non-essential personnel closing at noon, Wednesday, and will resume normal schedules on Friday. 

COMMUNITY CHRISTIAN PRESCHOOL/SUMMER CAMP: Preschool, summer camp in Orange closed Wednesday

DELTA LIFE FITNESS MID COUNTY: Classes canceled 3 p.m. Wed until 3 p.m. Thursday.

DPS JEFFERSON COUNTY OFFICE: The DPS driver license office in Jefferson County will close at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

DPS ORANGE COUNTY OFFICE: The driver license office in Orange County will close at 12 p.m. Wednesday.

HAMSHIRE-FANNETT ISD: All district operations will be closed for the remainder of the week.  The school board meeting this week is canceled. 

LAMAR INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY: Classes resume Thursday, faculty and staff should report to campus

LAMAR STATE COLLEGE ORANGE: LSC-O will be closed Wednesday, Thursday

LAMAR STATE COLLEGE PORT ARTHUR: Operations, classes resume on Thursday morning with offices reopening at 8 a.m. and classes taking place as originally scheduled.

LAMAR UNIVERSITY: Lamar University will resume its regular schedule Thursday, June 22.  Classes will resume their regular schedule and faculty and staff should report to campus. 

LITTLE CYPRESS BAPTIST CHURCH LEARNING CENTER: Will be closed Thursday.

LUMBERTON ISD: No student activities on Thursday. Includes STAAR testing, summer school and camp activities. All student activities will resume on Friday as scheduled.

MCNEESE STATE UNIVERSITY: McNeese State University will be closed Wednesday and Thursday. All classes and activities are canceled and all offices will be closed but are currently expected to reopen as usual on Friday and freshmen orientation will be held as scheduled.

MEALS ON WHEELS ORANGE: Closed on Thursday.

MEALS ON WHEELS JEFFERSON COUNTY: Closed on Thursday

NEDERLAND GARBAGE PICKUP: No garbage pickup on Thursday

ORANGE COUNTY OFFICES: All county offices closing at noon Wednesday, Thursday, possibly opening Friday. The budget workshop has been cancelled.

PORT ARTHUR ISD: Closed Wednesday, Thursday. Reopen on Friday, June 23rd for a makeup day for all employees from 7 to 5 p.m. Classes will resume from 8-3 p.m. for elementary students and 7:30-2:30 p.m. for secondary students in the summer enrichment programs. Fifth and eighth grade students that need to retake the STAAR Reading test will do so on Friday. High school students that were scheduled to retake the English II and /Social Studies STAAR tests will take them on Friday during the previously scheduled time.

PORT NECHES GROVES ISD: Ceasing operations on Thursday and Friday. All summer school classes are dismissed, all non-essential personnel are released  Budget Workshop for noon Thursday cancelled. 

RAINBOW, VETERANS MEMORIAL BRIDGES - MAY CLOSE DUE TO WINDS: If sustained wind speeds reach 44 mph and/or create hazardous driving conditions, the Texas Department of Public Safety will close the Rainbow and Veterans Memorial Bridges.

REDEEMER LUTHERAN CHILDREN'S CENTER: Closed on Thursday

SHORKEY EDUCATION & REHABILITATION CENTER: Closed Thursday, reopen Friday.

STARK CULTURAL VENUES: Venues will remain closed throughout the day Thursday

TRIANGLE AREA NETWORK: Both Beaumont, Orange locations close at Noon Wednesday through Friday morning.  409-832-8338.

VIDOR ISD: Vidor ISD has canceled all student classes and activities for Thursday, June 22. Staff will report as usual, but students will not. Students at Vidor High School taking STAAR tests will take those tests on Monday. If your student was enrolled in cooking camp through VISD Community Education, the camp will conclude on Monday from 1:30-3:30. Girls' basketball camp will finish on Monday, same times as this week.  Summer reading camp will resume on Monday at 9 a.m. as usual.
