Orange residents prepare for Tropical Storm Cindy

Some residents in Orange spent the day gathering supplies to prepare for Tropical Storm Cindy.

ORANGE - Getting groceries, gas and sandbags are just a few steps that several Southeast Texans took to prepare for Tropical Storm Cindy.

Orange couple Roslyn Woodard and Cornealious Woodard live say after experiencing storms such as Hurricane Rita reminds them how important it is to stock up for severe weather.

"Hopefully everybody is prepared because if you are in this Southeast [Texas] area you've been through it before you know?” Woodard said.

Debra Hernandez is stocking up on sand to protect her home off of Happy Home Lane near Interstate 10 in Orange.

"I just don't want to lose my belongings," Hernandez said.

It’s a scary thought for the Woodards who are praying for others taking similar precautions.

"I'm just hoping everyone is preparing themselves," Woodard said.

Sandbags will be available tomorrow at these locations below in Orange County.

  • Precinct One Maintenance Barn - North Hwy 87 at North Teal, Orange
  • If out after 3:30 pm, won't be replenished until next morning, this location only
  • Precinct Three Maintenance Barn - 2502 West Roundbunch, Bridge City
  • Precinct Four Maintenance Barn - 375 Claiborne Street, Vidor.
