High demand for Beaumont hotels

Most Beaumont hotels out of rooms

Seven weeks after the devastating flooding of Hurricane Harvey, hotel and motel rooms are still in short supply.

According to Freddie Willard, Director of Sales at the Beaumont Convention and Visitor Bureau, 15 hotels are still filled with those displaced, independent contractors, and hurricane relief agencies.

"Emergency groups took about half of our rooms, but still we get filled up every night,” said Chan Patel, the owner of the Midtown Inn.

44 of the 100 rooms at the Midtown Inn are damaged. However, that doesn’t stop people needing a room from wanting to stay.

"Midnight is when they come in and ask to have something, even if I don’t have a bed available, “said Patel. I feel bad about it because we had to reject a lot of people.”

Beaumont hotels can expect the high demand to go down by later October or sometime early November.
