Family escapes safely after tree falls on Beaumont home

18-year-old Juan Vega was devastated after a tree fell on his lifelong South End Beaumont home Wednesday night.

BEAUMONT - 18-year-old Juan Vega was devastated after a tree fell on his lifelong South End Beaumont home Wednesday night.

Vega was on the phone with his girlfriend around 11 p.m. Wednesday. Vega says he thought he heard thunder outside when he discovered the tree fell onto his home in the 1300 block of Pipkin Street.

"We're all good but the house is gone,” Vega said.

Beaumont Fire Rescue responded to assist the family.

Vega is thankful his parents and his two dogs weren't hurt. He remains distraught over how badly his house could be damaged.

"I don't know, seeing my parents like this, going through tough times, then more tough times come and it all stacks up on top of each other, I'm just asking that if anyone can help us out in any way that would be appreciated."

Vega and his parents are staying with family at this time until they can further assess the damage to their home.
