Lumbeton woman, 4-year-old receive minor injuries after car rear-ends 18-wheeler

BEAUMONT - A Lumberton woman and her 4-year-old son received minor injuries after the car she was driving struck the rear of an 18-wheeler west of Beaumont.

From the Texas Department of Public Safety...

At approximately 4:00p.m., the Texas Department of Public Safety received a report of a two vehicle crash on Highway 90 in Jefferson County.

The crash occurred approximately two (2) miles west of the city of Beaumont.

Initial reports indicate that a 1999 Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling eastbound on Highway 90 followed by 2015 Hyundai passenger vehicle.

The driver of the Ford failed to control her speed and rear-ended the 18-wheeler.

The driver of the Hyundai, 22-year-old Andrea Ivy of Lumberton, and her 4-year-old son, were both transported by ambulance to Baptist hospital with minor injuries.

The driver of the 18- wheeler was not injured in the crash.

Ivy was issued a traffic citation for failure to control speed.
