IH10 wreck kills Montgomery man, injures two, shuts down east bound lanes for three hours

BEAUMONT - A Montgomery man was killed early Thursday morning in a three vehicle wreck on Interstate 10 just west of Beaumont when he rear-ended a flatbed truck.

Shawn Wallace Fincher, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck just after 7:30 a.m. about a mile west of Ford Park according to a release from the Texas Department of Public Safety.

The wreck shut down the eastbound lanes of interstate 10 for about three hours.

Fincher, who was was driving a Dodge pickup truck pulling a trailer, was pronounced dead at th by Justice of the Peace Ray Chesson according to the release.

Fincher failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a 2017 Freightliner commercial flatbed truck driven by Jose Moreira, 52, of Katy, that was stopped in the eastbound lanes due to an earlier crash the release said.

The force of the impact pushed the Freightiner truck into the rear of Chevrolet pickup truck driven by Steven Sheppard, 39, of Houston.

Both Moreira and Sheppard were transported by ambulance to Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where they were  both listed in stable condition the release said.
