DPS investigating multi-vehicle wreck on Highway 62 in Orange County

ORANGE COUNTY - Texas Department of Public Safely troopers are investigating a multi-vehicle crash in Orange County.

A DPS Trooper on the scene said there was a 3-car accident that injured multiple people.

A Jeep was traveling northbound on SH 62 while a Mustang was traveling southbound on SH 62, followed by a pickup truck. The driver of the Jeep pulled into the center turn lane to make a left turn into the Pilot fuel station parking lot and failed to yield the right of way and turned into the path of the Mustang. The two cars collided and  the momentum of the crash caused the Mustang to spin. It was then struck by the truck.

The driver of the Jeep, 73-year-old Connie Rogers of Bridge City, was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries, as was The driver of the Mustang, 37-year-old Stephanie Garza of Vidor.

Two passengers in the Mustang, ages 16 and 10 years old, were also transported to St. Elizabeth hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the the truck was not injured in the crash.

All north and southbound lanes of SH 62 were closed for approximately an hour, but have since reopened.

This crash remains under investigation
