CHAMBERS COUNTY -

The Chambers County Sheriff's Office said that the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting Monday was violating a protective order from his estranged wife.

Chambers County officials say 35-year-old Joshua LeBoeuf had numerous calls of domestic violence against his estranged wife, as well as calls for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Around 9 a.m. Monday morning, a dispatcher received a call that LeBoeuf was at his estranged wife's home on County Line Road, violating the protective order his she had in place against him since July 15.

Deputies went to the home and confronted LeBoeuf.  They said while they were placing him under arrest, he broke free and ran to his truck and grabbed a gun.  They said shots were fired and deputies fired back.

LeBoeuf was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Chambers County spokesperson said dispatchers have been receiving numerous domestic violence calls from a home in the 18000 block of County Line Road off of Highway 73. The spokesperson said LeBoeuf was arrested on June 30, and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.

The case is still under investigation by the Texas Rangers.
