UPDATE: Ford Park G.M. says leaving lights on is "standard procedure"

Posted: Updated:

Ford Park General Manager responded Saturday to questions about lights being left on for an extended period of time at the baseball fields. "Light burn in is standard operating procedure for new lamp/ballast installation," said John Hughes.

Acting on a tip, 12News discovered the lights at Ford Park's baseball fields were left on overnight Friday. These photos were taken by 12News around 3:30am Saturday. Just last week, Jefferson County Commissioners approved nearly $36,000 in emergency funding for lighting repairs at Ford Park. The funding came from the hotel occupancy tax fund.  The vote was approved 4 to 1 with Commissioner Everette "Bo" Alfred voting against it.
