City of Port Arthur postpones audit

PORT ARTHUR - The city of Port Arthur postponed a move to hire a firm to conduct a forensic audit of all city departments.

The measure, presented by Councilman Willie 'Bae' Lewis, would take a closer look at all financial information within the city.

The discussion on the matter has been rescheduled for the September 9 council meeting.

This proposal comes weeks after former city and Beaumont Independent School District electrician Calvin Walker was indicted on state charges of money laundering and fraudulently billing the city of Port Arthur and BISD.
