FORT WORTH, Texas, Aug. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Benbrook Community Center YMCA of Fort Worth, Texas today announced the opening of registration for its inaugural Superheroes 5K Run, which will be held at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13, 2014. The race is open to 1,000 participants. It will be a timed chip race and ran on a certified course. It's a great way to train for the upcoming Fort Worth YMCA Turkey Trot.

The Superheroes 5K Run will take place along the historic Meacham Airport Flightline in Fort Worth, Texas, with the race beginning and ending at the Historic Vintage Flying Museum. Early-bird pricing is available until September 1, with discounts available for military, seniors and children. The entry fee covers a race t-shirt, bib and chip for race timing and all participants will also receive a virtual goodie bag. After the race, festivities will be held at the Vintage Flying Museum.

The Superheroes 5K Run is intended to be a family-friendly race that will encourage physical activity, community service and goodwill for deserving non-profit organizations. The event is receiving wide community support, and has already secured sponsors such as Luke's Locker, Steadfast Performance & Fitness, The Time Group Marketing & Advertising Agency, The Family Support Foundation For Mental Illness, PX3 Sports Science and Cox Racing Services.
