PA man sentenced for 2012 burglary and standoff that disrupted nearby school

A Port Arthur man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for a burglary and standoff that happened in 2012.

The sentence was handed down to Milton Stevenson, 43, on Wednesday.

According to 12News file stories, on Oct. 2, 2012, Port Arthur police were called to a house located at 3110 North Park for a burglary in progress. The burglar was still inside the house when police arrived.  The man refused to come out of the house.

The Port Arthur SWAT team was called.  They were able to get the man, later identified as Stevenson, to come out.

No officers or civilians were hurt in the incident

The incident happened close to Tyrell Elementary.  Even though it was over before the start of school, students were moved to the auditorium at TJ middle school until all traces of the chemical agent used in the standoff had been dispersed.
