SETX Man who says he grows medical marijuana fighting charges

Supporters of legalization of marijuana gathered at the Jefferson County Courthouse Monday to show support for a man who says he grows and uses the drug to help him deal with epileptic episodes.

The case of Jeremy Bourque was the docket call for his charge of possession of marijuana.

Bourque, who has epilepsy, says he lives his life not knowing when he will have another episode.  He admits to growing marijuana, but says he needs it for medical purposes.

Friends and supporters were at the courthouse.  Some are holding sings while others are wearing t-shirts with slogans of support.  Those who are wearing shirts with a slogan calling for legalization of marijuana have been asked to wait outside of the courtroom.

The judge set the trial date for Oct. 6.
