Beaumont police release sketch of serial rapist suspect

Posted:
A man wanted in a series of assaults against women in Beaumont's north end may have attempted another attack late Thursday.

At about 11:15 p.m., a woman was standing outside her home in the 2000 block of Long Street.   A man tried to force her back into her home.  The woman resisted and began screaming.  Her shouts apparently scared off the suspect as he quickly fled the area heading north on foot.

Officers quickly arrived in the area.  They set up a perimeter and began a track using our K-9 officers, but were unable to find him.

The victim, who was not physically injured in the assault, described the suspect as a black male, tall, thin, with a dark complexion, clean-shaven, with big eyes.  She said he was wearing a red or burgundy hoodie pulled over his head.  She further said that he reeked of body odor.

A neighbor of the victim tells 12News the victim is about 60 years old. The neighbor says the victim came running next door after the man ran way. "I'll never forget the look on er face," said the neighbor, who did not wish to be identified. "She was just scared, shaking uncontrollably."

Detectives are working to determine if this latest incident is related to the three previous incidents.

Detectives enlisted the assistance of a forensic sketch artist to develop a possible image of the suspect wanted in this series of attacks.  The attached sketch is an image of the suspect wanted for the previous three attacks.

"If you recognize this man, or know his identity, we urge you to do the right thing and contact Beaumont Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.  We will not ask for your name and if your information leads to the identity and arrest of this suspect, you could be eligible for a cash reward of up to $1,000," says a statement issued by Beaumont Police Sgt. Rob Flores.
