Beaumont police detectives search for man connected to three sexual assaults

Posted: Updated:
The Beaumont Police Department is asking for the public's help in identifying a man connected to three sexual assault cases in the north end of town.

The assaults happened from May until July.

A police spokesperson said the first assault happened Monday, May 5 around 12:30 a.m. at the Regent Apartment located in the 1800 block of Regent Street. The victim was getting out of her car in the parking lot of the apartment complex when the suspect approached her from behind and robbed her of money and her cell phone. The spokesperson said he assaulted her in the parking lot, and then fled the area on foot.

The second assault happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday June 24 in the back parking lot of Ashley Square Apartments located in the 1100 block of 7th Street.  The police spokesperson said  the victim was making a phone call when a man approached her from behind. He stole her phone then forced her into a patio area of an apartment. Police say he  assaulted her in the fenced-in patio area and then fled the area on foot.

The third assault happened around 11 p.m. on Wednesday July 2 at the Autumn Cove apartment complex located in the 3900 block of Eastex Freeway. The police spokesperson said the victim was inside her apartment watching television. The front door to the apartment slightly cracked open. A man entered the unsecured apartment, attempted to rob her of money, and then assaulted her inside the apartment. He then fled on foot. The victim was able to escape and yell for help.

The victims in these assaults gave very similar descriptions of the attacker which leads detectives to believe the same man may have committed them.

Victims describe the attacker as a black man, early to mid 20’s, about 5’09” – 5’10” tall, thin build, clean shave, with dark skin. They say he had very distinctive eyes, which they described as large and bulging, as well as a distinctive wide flat nose. In each assault, he wore a gray sweatshirt described as a hoodie. During two of the assaults, he wore a dark-colored cap with fur on the brim and earflaps that hung down. In one of the assaults, he wore a dark colored ski style hat. In all three assaults, he threatened the victims with a dark handgun.

The Beaumont Police Department is urging  all citizens to be on the lookout for this man. If anyone has information that could lead to the identity of this suspect, we ask him or her to call our Special Crimes Unit at 409-880-3840.
