SEATTLE -- Police were called Sunday morning after a downtown Seattle resident was startled to see a drone hovering outside her apartment window, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Lisa Pleiss said she looked out her window of her 26th floor apartment near Terry Avenue and Stewart Street around 7:45 a.m. only to see an unmanned aerial vehicle hovering outside the building.

She said the drone was hovering near the top of a crane about a block away from her building.  Concerned the drone was spying on her, Pleiss reported it to the building concierge, who called police.

After reporting the drone, the concierge went outside and saw two men piloting it. The men, who also had a tripod and video camera, packed up their equipment and drove off in a white Mazda, according to police.

"Now I kind of understand how violating it can feel when you're standing in your apartment and you don't even know who's there or potentially taking pictures of you," Pleiss said.

Pleiss said the sighting has made her a little more cautious about walking around her own home.

Officers are -- somewhat ironically -- seeing if the drone pilots were caught on surveillance camera.
