Police identify woman killed in Orange accident

Authorities have released the name of a woman killed in a two-vehicle accident in Orange.  The victim is identified as Elizabeth Janean Smith, 32, of Orange.

The accident happened at 10th St. and Green Ave. around 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

A Captain with the Orange Police Department said the driver of a Ford Explorer, identified as Gregory Lee Wallace Jr, 19, of Vidor, ignored a red light and crashed into the driver side of a Nissan car that was carrying four people. Rescue crews used the jaws of life to get Smith out of the Nissan.

Smith was taken to Baptist Orange Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Air Rescue flew a 3-year-old child to Texas Children's Hospital in Galveston. A third passenger in the Nissan had minor injuries, and the last person was not hurt.

Wallace did not suffer injuries in the accident.  He was cited for running a red light.
