OC Sheriffs office ID's man killed in Saturday shooting

Posted: Updated:
The Orange County Sheriff's Office Sunday identified the man killed in a fatal shooting Saturday at about 10 a.m.

Deputies say 60-year-old Ronald Thomas Barnes was found dead with several gunshot wounds in a home in the 400 block of Florence near Vidor.  According to reports, Barnes was involved in a disagreement with 47-year-old Steven James Coutee, the owner of the home in which the shooting took place.

Deputies say the disagreement escalated to the point where both men produced a firearm and Coutee shot Barnes. Coutee subsequently called 911.

Justice of the Peace Janice Menard has ordered on autopsy.

Deputies say the 47-year-old man is cooperating with investigators and no arrest has been made at this time.
