BISD spokesperson Jessie Haynes back at work

Beaumont Independent School District spokesperson Jessie Haynes has returned to work.

BISD trustee Tom Neild confirmed to 12News that Haynes returned to her post Wednesday.  She has been on leave since August after being involved in a scuffle with Trustee Mike Neil and Reporter Jerry Jordan.

Last week a jury convicted her of obstructing a public passageway, a class B misdemeanor.  Judge Langston Adams sentenced Haynes to 2 years probation, a $2,000 fine and community service.  She is also required to take anger management courses.

In light of proposed layoffs, Neild told 12News he would ask Superintendent Timothy Chargois, Ed D. if he was going to let Haynes go or current spokesperson Nakisha Myles.  Neild said his vote would be to keep Myles who he described as a much more pleasant person.

Board President Gwen Ambres told 12News that it is too early to speculate on Haynes' future with the district.  She said she is confident that Dr. Chargois will review the matter and place Haynes in a position where she can be the most productive.
