SOUTHWEST LOUISIANA (KPLC) -Heavy rains hit Southwest Louisiana Wednesday morning, leaving many streets and low-lying areas underwater.

According to reports, anywhere from 3 to 5 inches of rain fell across the area.

Meteorologist Ben Terry said that scattered showers will return later today, but he doesn't expect it to be nearly as heavy as it was this morning.

Things were much worse for our neighbors in the eastern part of the state.

The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado caused damage in the parking lot of an oil refinery in Garyville. You can read more about it HERE and at http://bit.ly/RC0w6J

Most of Southeast Louisiana, which received anywhere from 7 to 12 inches of rain, was expected to be under a flash flood watch until Thursday evening. You can read more about it HERE and at http://bit.ly/1hek3qx
