Arson suspected in fire at vacant Beaumont fraternity house

A spokesperson for Beaumont Fire-Rescue told 12News that a fire that happened Tuesday afternoon in the city's south end appears to be arson.

The fire was reported shortly before 1 p.m. at the now vacant Kappa Sigma fraternity house located at 590 East Pipkin Street.

The house received heavy damage to both floors.

The spokesperson said the fire appears to have multiple points of origin which leads them to believe it was intentionally set on fire.

Neighbors reported that people had been seen going in and out of the building prior to the fire.

No injuries were reported.
