Man and woman killed in boating accident identified

The names of a man and woman killed in a boating accident have been released.

Jasper County Precinct 3 Justice of the Peace Judge Mike Smith told 12News they are identified as Charlotte Dowden,38, and Arlon Chance, 52, both of Fred.

The accident happened around 3 p.m. Saturday on the Angelina River in  northeast Jasper County and a few miles north of a community called Bevilport. Authorities say two boats almost collided head-on. Dowden and Chance, who were in one of the boats, were killed. A man in another boat was injured. His name has not been released.

Game wardens with Texas Parks and Wildlife are conducting the investigation.
