Authorities say two women helped inmate escape

A spokesperson for the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office Saturday said an inmate who walked off his trustee work detail in back in jail.

The inmate trustee, Scottie Carrier, was taken into custody at 1 p.m. Saturday without incident after authorities received a tip. He was arrested in a camping trailer on Royer Loop in Sulphur.

The spokesperson said Carrier walked off of his trustee job at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles Friday afternoon. The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office had been actively searching for Carrier around the clock since being notified Carrier had left the property Friday at 1:30 p.m. Carrier is being charged with simple escape. Judge Sharon Wilson set his bond at $100,000.

The spokesperson said two women were assisted in connection with the escape. They are identified as Stefani O'Quain, 26, of Sulphur,
and Meagan Garrett, 24, of Lake Charles

Both women have been booked in the Calcasieu Correctional Center charged with assisting escape. Bond is set at $10,000 each.
