Men throwing pennies at dancing girls leads to shooting on Crockett St.

Beaumont police have arrested and charged two men involved in an early morning shooting on Crockett Street.

Justin Mottox, 24, and Troy Thibodeaux, 24, both of Beaumont, have been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

According to a news release issued by the Beaumont Police Department, witnesses told police that Mottox and Thibodeaux were inside Dixie Dance hall and got into a disturbance with a 21-year-old woman from Kirbyville. Officer Carrol Riley told 12News the woman was dancing on the bar with three other women and Mottox and Thibodeaux threw pennies at them. This led to verbal and then a physical altercation. The bouncers from Dixie Dance Hall made all parties involved leave the club.

A brother of one of the women got into a disturbance with Mottox and Thibodeaux. Several people tried to keep him from fighting with Mottox and Thibodeaux. The disturbance continued to the parking lot. Mottox and Thibodeaux got guns from their vehicle and began shooting towards the dancer's brother.

Two men were shot while reportedly trying to keep the dancer's brother from fighting. Both shooting victims, a 21-year-old man from Kountze and a 25-year-old man from Beaumont, were taken to the hospital by EMS and are reported to be in stable condition.

Mottox and Thibodeaux were taken to the Beaumont Police Department to speak with detectives and then taken to Jefferson County Jail.
