Video sparks TDA investigation into Vidor gas station

A Vidor gas station is under investigation for allegedly pumping unleaded gasoline into its premium gasoline tank. The Texas Department of Agriculture reviewed video, received a complaint and is now testing the gasoline at Super Stop #4 in the 2500 block of North Main Street.

Sissy Darden captured the video on May 2. In the video the owner of the gas station is seen standing next to one of the gas pumps with the nozzle placed into a tank in the ground.

"Apparently one of his customers came here and told me I'm crazy because we got cameras out here. I'm not crazy because I caught it on camera. It's like retail fraud to me and ever since I caught him doing it I wasn't going to stop here anymore," Darden said.

The owner, Muhammad Arif, says he was just doing maintenance. He says he was changing filters and checking the nozzles and pumps for leaks. Arif claims Darden has been harassing him and is considering legal action.

However, the video was enough for the TDA to send an inspector to the gas station Thursday to collect samples.

A spokesperson with the TDA says he is waiting to receive the final results from the Chief Inspector before releasing more information.
