Motorcycle rider leads troopers on chase

Department of Public Safety troopers Tuesday were lead on a chase.

A trooper tried to stop a motorcycle in front of the Jefferson County jail around 10 a.m. Tuesday after it was clocked at 85 MPH. The rider did not stop and the chase began. The procession kept south to 73 then to 39th Street.

Department of Public Safety Trooper Stephanie Davis told 12News the chase eventually went through the Total Refinery parking lot, then back to 365 and 366 before stopping.  A Total spokesperson told 12News the company is not aware of any chase that went through its property.

The motorcycle rider, only identified by authorities as a 26-year-old Beaumont man, was taken into custody and charged with evading arrest.

As of 11 a.m. no other information has been released.  Check back for updates.
