Port Arthur man sentenced in 2013 robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault case

Posted:
A Port Arthur man has been sentenced to three 45-year sentences for aggravated robbery, kidnapping and sexual assault. The sentences will be served concurrently.  All three charges are first degree felonies.

Dominique Adams, 19, of Port Arthur, was sentenced Monday.

According to 12News file stories, on July 2, 2013 Adams, who was 18 at the time, was already on probation for a 2012 burglary when police say he along with Bronson Williams, 25, and one other man, robbed a woman and her boyfriend at gunpoint at their home in the 1500 block of Saint Augustine Avenue.

While the boyfriend was being held outside, authorities say the female victim was assaulted inside the house.

She managed to escape after the attackers took her to a gas station in the 2700 block of Memorial drive to withdraw money from an ATM.  She made a frantic 911 call to police and described the attack.

The female victim was treated at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont.  The male victim was not physically harmed.

Police questioned possible suspects and the investigation resulted in the arrest of Adams and Williams.  Adams was seen on video from the store, and was later found at his home still wearing the same clothing as in the video.  At the time of his arrest, he was in possession of the female victim's keys and told police where they could find her car.

"Adams is a dangerous felon who committed a truly heinous crime.  He deserves every second of every day that he spends in the penitentiary," said Assistant Criminal District Attorney Koby Hoffpauir.
