Motiva officials say no harmful emissions detected following release Monday

Motiva's refinery in Port Arthur had what officials call a release of emissions that happened late Monday morning.

A spokesperson for Motiva said the release happened around 11 a.m.  

The spokesperson said the facility, "experienced an operational upset on one of its units, which has resulted in air emissions."

Motiva is conducting air monitoring. The spokesperson said fence line monitoring did not detect emissions that are harmful to the community.  

The spokesperson said all appropriate agencies have been contacted.
