Victim: I was robbed by a fake cop

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 24-year-old Bridge City man said he was stopped by a person who he says was impersonating a police officer.

The man said around 9 p.m. on May 9 he was driving on Interstate 10 eastbound in the area of the Neches River Bridge near the Orange County line.  He said he was stopped by a man who was driving an SUV with flashing lights just above the visor.  He said the man had no badge or weapon, and did not identify himself or any agency affiliation.

The victim told 12News that the man took cash from him during the stop.  He described the suspect as a heavy set, bald black male.

Investigators have been working to develop leads and ask that if anyone has any information on the crime or suspect to call the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
