3 taken to hospital following rollover accident in Beaumont

BEAUMONT - Three people, including a little girl, were taken to the hospital following a rollover accident on Interstate 10 in Beaumont.

The accident happened around 1:37 p.m. Friday on the westbound side just before the Port Arthur 69 exit.

Pedro Candelaria witnessed the accident.  He told 12News that a gray sedan cut off a PT Cruiser just before the Port Arthur exit from Interstate 10.  He said the PT Cruiser flipped 6 or 7 times before coming to a stop along the Interstate.

"It was upside-down by the time we got there, and we started pulling everyone out and making sure everyone was O.K.  Everybody started running over there, there was a baby inside there and we had to get it out," said Candelaria.

Beaumont Police Officer D. Dean told 12News that the driver of the gray sedan was cited for making an unsafe lane change.  Officer Dean said the three taken to the hospital are two women and a child that appeared to be between 5 to 6-years old.

Officer Dean said the injuries did not appear to be life threatening.
