Nederland police looking for man who beat, robbed 81-year-old

NEDERLAND - An 81-year-old Nederland man was beaten and robbed in his own garage Friday.

A spokesperson for the Nederland Police Department said the robbery happened around 10 a.m. at the man’s house located in the 700 block of S. 4th Street.
The victim told police that he had been away from home for part morning.   He parked his car in the garage when he returned.  When he got out of the car, a man emerged and beat him up.  The robber took the victim’s money and ran away.

The victim was taken to the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.  He was then transferred to Memorial Houston Hospital for surgery.  The police spokesperson said on Friday that the victim is in good condition.

The police spokesperson described the robber as a black male in his 20’s.  At the time of the robbery he was wearing a black beanie style cap, a grey long-sleeved shirt, and black pants.  He was driving a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee.

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call the Nederland Police Department at 409-722-4965.
