Suspect in double murder reportedly leads authorities to murder weapons in pond

A family member accused of taking part in the killing of a husband and wife outside a church reportedly led Tyler County authorities to weapons used in the double murder, according to a newspaper report.

The Lufkin Daily News is reporting that one of the Westfall suspects in the murder of a couple showed authorities where to find the murder weapon.

The Westfall family of four was arrested by Tyler County Sheriff's Deputies in March and charged with engaging in organized criminal activity - capital murder.

Kristen, her brother Cameron, and their parents Letha and Paul Westfall were charged. Following a psychological evaluation, Paul Westfall was deemed incompetent to stand trial.

The murder victims were Kristen's ex-husband Nathan Maddox and his wife Krystal. Authorities believe the shootings were motivated by Nathan and Krystal's legal battle with the Westfall family for custody of Nathan's five year old daughter Madison.

Attempts to confirm the latest details in this story with Tyler County Sheriff Bryan Weatherford have been unsuccessful.
