New pictures show Baby Faith recovering after suffering 19 fractures

Posted: Updated:
In July 2013, 12News first learned of Faith Mason, a one-month-old Port Arthur girl who suffered 19 fractures including a broken neck, arms and legs.

Baby Faith spent months in a Houston hospital in a body cast. Doctors did not believe, at the time, that she would overcome her injuries because she also suffered brain trauma. Doctors say it was the worst case of child abuse they had ever seen.

She is now out of the hospital, out of a body cast and in the care of a therapeutic foster home in Houston.

In astonishing new pictures released to 12News Friday, you can see a smiling, happy baby slowly but surely overcoming her injuries.

While her current medical conditions can not be released at this time, Court Appointed Special Advocate volunteers tell 12News that Faith continues to thrive in her foster home and that CASA along with Family and Protective Services continue to monitor her progress and ensure she is doing well. CASA volunteers call her a "miracle baby."

Faith's parents have been charged for abusing Faith.

Her mother, Christine Johnson, faces first degree felony injury to a child. Her father, Darrell Mason, is charged with second degree felony injury to a child by omission; meaning he knew about the abuse and didn't force it to stop.

Faith will turn one-year-old this summer.
