Elderly man answers door, gets punched and robbed

ORANGE - Orange County sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who forced his way into an elderly man's home, assaulted him and took his wallet.

Around 2:30 p.m. Thursday the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the Little Cypress Volunteer Fire Department saying an elderly man had been assaulted.

The victim told deputies that he drove himself to the fire station located at 8465 N. Hwy 87 in Orange after being robbed at his house in the 800 block of Lawn Oak in the Little Cypress area of north Orange.

The man said someone knocked on his door.  When he answered, a man punched him in the face knocking him unconscious.  When he regained consciousness, he discovered that his wallet was missing and man was gone.

Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office are still gathering details from the victim, who was taken by ambulance to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth in Beaumont for what are believed to be non-life threatening injuries.
