Nursing instructor was chosen as one of five national Fulbright-Nehru Scholars to provide education in India
MINNEAPOLIS, May 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Minnesota School of Business is proud to announce that nursing instructor Jody Chrastek has been chosen to participate in the Fulbright-Nehru International Education Administrators Program. She will receive a grant to provide training for palliative care at 10 hospitals in India. Chrastek currently teaches end-of-life care as part of the Minnesota School of Business BSN program's core curriculum.
"It is estimated that 480,000 children in India have terminal conditions needing palliative care," says Chrastek. "The aim of my project is to establish pediatric palliative care training centers for nurses across India through collaborative education and mentoring."
Chrastek will be traveling to India in February of 2015 and again in February 2016. Between trips, she will continue mentoring and teaching online.
"We are honored to have Jody as a member of our nursing faculty," says Elizabeth Riley, Dean of Nursing at Minnesota School of Business. "She already provides our students with career training, and now she will have the opportunity to share her knowledge abroad."
Chrastek applied for the scholarship with her project proposal, along with a letter of recommendation from Riley. Her application was reviewed in the U.S. as well as in India before she was chosen as one of five in the nation to receive this specific award.
