Lake Charles man killed in accident after vehicle hits concrete barriers

Posted: Updated:

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office has released the name of a man killed in a traffic accident over the weekend.

The victim is identified as Jeremy W. Duplechin, 33, of Lake Charles

A sheriff's office spokesperson said the accident happened around 2:45 a.m. Sunday in Lake Charles as Duplechin was traveling westbound on W. Lincoln Road. The spokesperson said Duplechin failed to stop at a stop sign at W. Lincoln and Big Lake Road and his car traveled across Big Lake Road and struck the gate to the entrance of LNG Terminal. The vehicle struck the cement barriers in the driveway of LNG where the car came to rest on the roof.

Duplechin was wearing a seat belt and had to be extricated from the car by the Lake Charles Fire Department. He was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Deputies say appears speed and failure to stop at the stop sign are the cause of the accident.
