Three home invasions in Port Arthur in less than an hour

Posted: Updated:
PORT ARTHUR - The Port Arthur Police Department is investigating three home invasion robberies that happened early Wednesday morning.

A police department spokesperson said the first robbery happened at 1:13 a.m. in the 5100 block of 4th Street. Less than 30 minutes later officers were called to a house in the 2900 block of 19th Street and at 2 a.m. officers were called to a home in the 3700 block of 5th Street.

In each case the robbers used guns and forced their way into the house.

One man whose apartment was robbed asked not to be identified. He said he wasn't home at the time but his girlfriend was asleep on the couch when two men with their faces covered by t-shirts and hats, kicked in the door and held the woman at gunpoint demanding money. They got away with several pairs of Air Jordan sneakers and a Samsung Galaxy cell phone, about $600 worth of their belongings.

Police said they believe the same suspects were involved in at least two of the three home invasions. Neighbors like Carmen Arrendondo said the repeated robberies have left her feeling worried.

“It's really frightening it’s scary they’re on the loose still,” she said. “That's something I’m worried about because I have kids myself and I come home from working late.”

As of 6 p.m. Wednesday officers have not made an arrested.
