Body found in Newton County may be missing San Augustine County man


A spokesperson for the Newton County Sheriff's Office Friday said a body found Thursday might that of a missing San Augustine County man.

Newton County dispatch received a call around 2:44 p.m. Thursday. The caller said a body was found off of HWY 692 North. Investigators called deputies from San Augustine after they determined the deceased may be a man from that county who disappeared in February.

Investigators from Newton County Sheriff Dept. and San Augustine County Sheriff Dept. both worked the scene.

The spokesperson said further information is being without held pending positive identification and autopsy.
