Thursday night's tele-town hall meeting with State Education Commissioner Michael Williams generated almost 900 calls during the 90-minute span.
Out of those, 38 callers were able to directly talk to Commissioner Williams.
12News learned Thursday that if the Texas Education Agency decides to take over the Beaumont Independent School District, the board of trustees will be allowed to appeal the takeover.
The commissioners has not yet said when he will make his decision, but did indicate it would be soon.
Williams told listeners on the phone line that the board could challenge the ruling. He also said Superintendent Chargois would likely be removed in the event of a T.E.A. takeover.
Williams says if a "board of managers" is installed in May, it probably would not take over until July.
One caller asked for additional time so a new committee appointed this week could reform the district.
