Donations pour in for Hamshire Fannett Elementary

On Friday, Neches Federal Credit Union will donate a bulk of school supplies to the students of Hamshire Fannett Elementary School.

The school building caught fire March 18. The fire damaged eight classrooms, the auditorium and the front offices. 11 fire departments from across Southeast Texas helped put out the fire.

Students were out of class for over a week. Third graders have been moved to the middle school campus.

On Monday, WalMart sent an 18-wheeler with school supplies as the community continues to offer help.

Donation drop-off locations are set up around the area to help students get back to class.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
