Democratic nominee for Texas Land Commissioner campaigns in Beaumont

The Democratic nominee for Texas Land Commissioner is campaigning in Beaumont for the next few days.

12News caught up with John Cook speaking Wednesday at the offices of Lindsay Lindsay and Parsons.

Cook promised to maximize funding for veterans programs, protect the environment, and fight to protect Texans' access to our beaches.

Cook crossed the state from El Paso to be here as part of a 9-day, 3,000 mile campaign tour of Texas.  He is running against Republican nominee George P. Bush and urged resistance to voting for a famous name.

Cook joined Dr. King in his march on Washington in 1963, fought in Vietnam, and led El Paso for 14 years as mayor and city councilman.
