Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office investigates drowning

Posted: Updated:

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a drowning in Sulphur.

Deputies were dispatched to Holbrook Park in around 5 p.m. Saturday in reference to a possible drowning. The investigation revealed Kyle A. Simpson, 20, of Lake Charles, was at the park fishing with family members.

According to witnesses, Simpson swam to a rope swing on the other side of the river. But once he reached the swing, he went under the water and did not resurface.

Family members attempted to find him but were unsuccessful.

The CPSO Marine Division came out and was able to locate Simpson's body which was underwater close to the rope swing.
